I knew Paul G4MJM for over 40 years. I can recall him setting up his radio station at his mother’s home in Rectory Road, Grays all those years ago. I could never understand how he got his neighbours to agree to the erection of a tower with a 3-element beam on the top but somehow, he managed it. I can recall Paul talking about setting up a RTTY station. I was working this mode and one day he asked if he could call to see my station. When he visited, I think Paul nearly had a heart attack as I had wires everywhere, but it was working. If you ever visited Paul’s station you would know everything had its place and his station was always immaculate.
RIP G4MJM

Chris GØEKN and Stella GØEKP joined the Thurrock Acorns Club at it’s very beginning and very rarely missed a club meeting or a club event. They operated regularly together aboard HMS Belfast moored near Tower Bridge and frequently from Coalhouse Fort at East Tilbury. Always ready to support young people sending some Morse code in a calm and professional manner, Chris is pictured below at a club event (left) and a Scout event (right).
